Jackson Forest NATRC Sanctioned Competitive Trail Ride

Event Details

NATRC sanctioned Competitive Trail Ride Sat/Sun Aug 18-19 2012. Two day ride through the coastal redwoods of Mendocino county. Awesome scenery, great views and the wonderful smell of redwood underfoot on the single tracks. This is a public campground so riders can plan to camp before or after the ride and enjoy the wonderful trails. Weather is usually cool in the mornings and clears off in the late morning/early afternoon. Wear layered clothing. Fort Bragg is only 20 miles away and offers lots to do for the non-rider family and friends. Friday night is a pot luck and Saturday is a BBQ. For the Jackson Forest Competitive Trail Ride information, contact the ride secretary listed or log onto for Region 1 ride information and the Jackson Forest registration forms. NATRC (North American Trail Ride Conference) sanctions competitive trail rides throughout the U.S.This ride is NOT a race. NATRC rides are based on condition and soundness of the horse and the rider's performance, not speed. Pace and distance are determined by the division entered (including a junior division). The various classes allow for competition by riders or horses at different experience levels. The attention to horse care, good horsemanship, safety and camaraderie has made competitive trail riding one of the nation's most popular horse activities. First time competitors are always welcome. New competitor information is available from Linda Thomason, Region 1 Chairman and Outreach Coordinator (510) 651-9470
