We need highly knowledgeable, interested, individuals to
find, edit, create or suggest specific content in ridemagazine.com Each
Associate Editor will be responsible for a very discipline specific area of the
varied equestrian world. Just a few examples would be: Barrel Racing, Endurance
Riding, European FEI jumping, Dressage, Olympic coverage, breeds and breeding,
sports medicine. The list to almost limitless. RideMagazine.com would like to
bring to our fold a few highly knowledgeable individuals with a deep,
passionate background in one specific area of equestrian activity.
Duties include:
- Proofreading writing done by others
- Review daily news feeds for appropriate stories that can be used in our video programming or in text features
- Researching
- Writing news and features
- Going on assignment to cover equestrian events
- Interviewing experts for profiles or features
- Managing and publishing photo galleries online
- Special web projects as needed
- Suggesting major shows that should be promoted on RideTV and RideMagazine.com
- Suggesting stories that should be written by freelance writers
Compensation:

Requirements:
- Strong English language background
- A deep knowledge of one specific horse related activity. A competitive background is strongly suggested.
- Interest in a web video casting, interviewing, writing, internet publishing.
- Sharing with the world your specific interest in horses.

All internships involve any or all of our family of three industry leading websites: RideMagazine.com, Horsefinders.com, and NextDayJumps.com
Editor Internship
RideMagazine.com editorial internship gives interns more than a feel for the job, our interns perform important jobs. The job description varies little from the actual duties of the editorial staff. We work with the intern, offering personal attention and a level of responsibility fitted to the individual. Duties include:
- Proofreading writing done by others
- Review daily news feeds for appropriate stories that can be used in our video programming or in text features.
- Research
- Writing news and features
- Going on assignment to cover equestrian events
- Interviewing experts for profiles or features
- Writing news, features and video scrips
- Managing and publishing photo galleries online
- Special web projects as needed
- Updating the various social networking marketing tools
Requirements:
- Strong English language background
- Knowledge of horse sports. A competitive background is strongly suggested.
- Interest in a journalism career
Marketing and Public Relations Internship
This dynamic, fast paced, vital position offers the intern real world experience in internet marketing. Our newest internship gives the intern a chance to market and promote our family of websites. We work with the intern, offering personal attention and a level of responsibility fitted to the individual.
Duties:
- Execution of special marketing campaigns
- Helping to develop creative online, word of mouth and grassroots marketing campaigns to promote the magazine
- Planning special events
- Contacting online and print advertisers, subscribers and web users for marketing research, polls, feedback, etc.
- Assisting with e-communications, research, outreach, web analytics and updating social media feeds
- Developing partnerships that will increase our reach and impact
Requirements:
- Strong interest and at least basic knowledge of marketing, advertising, and publicity
- Must be a strong writer with excellent spelling and grammar
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Must be comfortable working in a team setting with regards to accepting responsibility and an outstanding capacity to pay attention to detail and follow through.
- Knowledge of English horse sports preferred.
- Experience in social networking with a basic understanding of viral, word of mouth and grassroots marketing tactics a plus.

Video Production Assistant Internship
The video production assistant works in our Chico, California office and is the associate director and producer of RideTV our flagship, weekly video webcast.
Duties include:
- Operate professional video camera, lights, tripod, chroma key background, wired and wireless microphones.
- Directs newscaster, captures output from camera to computer.
- Edits, and uploads weekly webcast.
- Training is available for all these duties.
Requirements:
- Technical aptitude
- Interest in webcasting, videoography
- Experience is helpful, a strong interest and aptitude to learn is essential
Video Newscaster Internship
This position is for our on screen personality that delivers the weekly news webcast on RideTV. The newscaster should be personable, articulate and able to extemporariously interview horsepersons on any topic. The newscaster will prepare a 1200+ word script, weekly, from a news feed. The job is in Chico, CA. Some travel to horse events is required.
Requirements:
- Any experience or training that prepares the intern for this exceptional position such as theater, college major in broadcast or media arts, experience or exception interest in the field
- Ability to review and write news segments
- Excellent writing and reading skills
Web Graphics Designer Internship
Create, and manage a variety of web and paper, graphic communications
Duties include:
- Create, update, and manage a variety of video and static web ads
- Create video ads in Premier Pro or graphic banner ads in photoshop
- Create business identity products
Requirements:
- Experience in graphic arts
- Willingness and ability to work closely with staff and clients to produce outstanding graphic ads and effects.
- Artistic talent.
- Experience in graphic computer programs.
Details on all Internships
Schedule:
Varies according to the schedules of the individual, but generally hours will be between 8-5 Monday through Friday. Telecommuting is possible. Our location is in Chico,California but if you are not lucky enough to live here, some internship can work from anywhere. Our in office internships are video producer and newscaster and IT.
Duration:
There are three internships available throughout the year: Spring, Summer and Fall.
Pay:
This is an unpaid internship. The benefits are on the job experience, resume experience and generous letters of recommendation.
Academic credit:
We're happy to help interns pursue academic credit.
